August 13, 2009—A study reported in The British Medical Journal concluded that Yaz users are at an increased risk for experiencing blood clots compared to users of other birth control pills. Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, Inc., the manufacturer of Yaz, previously entered into an agreement with the FDA to spend $20 million to correct advertising that misled the public as to the risks of Yaz.
